Cynthia Berry is a native Californian who grew up in Los Angeles and is the proud mother of two young adults. She is the daughter of Lillian and Allen Carter, who have been married for 72 years. She received a Master of Theology in Ministry emphasizing youth and family culture from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. Cynthia received her Mental Health Coaching Certificate from the American Association of Christian Counselors and is a Credentialed Christian Nonprofit Leader through the Christian Leadership Alliance organization.
Pastor Cynthia is an ordained minister with the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. She is an active member of the Lighthouse Church in Newbury Park, California, where she served on the Church Council and led women’s ministry and Bible study small groups.
Pastor Cynthia is a dynamic itinerant preacher and speaker who has inspired intergenerational, diverse audiences, both domestic and international. Her travels include Prague, Czech Republic, London, England, Peru (Lima and Arequipa), Haiti (Port-au-Prince), and Guyana, where she provided Missionary outreach and training in conjunction with various ministries. Pastor Cynthia also taught group devotion on the Mount of Olives in Israel.
For over thirty years, Cynthia worked in the nonprofit sector with the Breese Youth Center, World Impact, Rescue Mission Alliance, Prison Fellowship, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Synod, and New City Parish Network of Churches in Inglewood, California.
For the past seventeen years, Cynthia has worked in various capacities at Joni and Friends International Disability Center in Agoura Hills, California. Currently, she is the Director of Spiritual Formation and Care.
In her association with Joni and Friends, Cynthia has been involved with Joni Eareckson Tada, founder of Joni and Friends, on radio broadcasts, podcasts, and television. She has been a returning guest on the International Radio Program Discoveries in Prayer. Cynthia’s passion is intercessory prayer and exploring solutions to the challenges associated with young men and women who are emancipated.
